Grooming FAQ

What’s the difference between grooming and clipping?

When calling to book in your grooming service it can often be confusing which service is the best for you and your pets coat type. “Grooming” refers to a variety of services that are associated in the Grooming Salon. This includes ear cleaning, nail trims and filing, ear plucking, bathing, brushing the coat out, clipping of the coat, dying the hair, administration of parasite treatment and so on. “Clipping” however generally refers to the method of applying clippers to a dog with continuous hair growth to cut the hair at a desired length. There are many benefits to having your pet groomed professionally to name a few – improved health and skin appearance (and smell) and increased comfort.

Why is my dog always exhausted after a groom?

Most pets spend their day playing, napping or just pottering around the house. Spending the day at the groomers is a big day for your dog with lots of mental and physical stimulation.  Having a bath, drying off, playing with the groomer, having to concentrate, stand still, be in a different environment and soak up the love and attention, is enough to make any pet tired.

Do all dogs need grooming?

Yes, all dogs need a regular grooming routine, the coat type of your pet will determine what service is best. Parasite treatments should also be administered on a regular basis according the recommendations of the product.

Cute as a button offer many grooming services, the frequency of these will be determined by many factors – Lifestyle and rate of hair growth are two main considerations.

We recommend the below intervals to keep your pet looking and feeling their best;

  • Breed/Style and Full Grooms every 6-8 weeks
  • Tidy Ups every 4-6 weeks
  • De Shed every 4 weeks
  • Bathing Services every 2-4 weeks
